Presentation of the report «Walking the Tightrope – How Foundations Can Find a Balance Between Learning and Accountability Lenses»

The Esade Center for Social Impact (ECSI) and BBK are launching the report ‘Walking the Tightrope – How Foundations Can Find a Balance Between Learning and Accountability Lenses’. This report recounts how foundations at different stages of development and with a range of profiles are going about impact measurement and management (IMM) on a day-to-day basis. It also grapples with some of the challenges and philosophical issues arising, especially those related to balancing learning and accountability, two essential but sometimes perceived as competing and divergent mindsets.

The reflections and insights featured in the report derive from conversations and contributions of members of the European and Spanish Community of Practice (CoP) on Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) launched by ECSI and BBK in Fall 2020. This group of foundation professionals have come together to increase the level of transparency, knowledge-sharing and exchange within the European foundation sector on this topic.   

During the session, ECSI will present key insights and data from the second year of the CoP (building on insights from the first year) and will have a dialogue with representatives from foundations who participate in the CoP as well as an expert in the field about how foundations can best develop a fit-for-purpose 21st century impact navigation system. The audience will have the chance to ask questions.
