The URL has risen 13 places in The New York Times' global employability ranking

 The Global Employability University Survey 2014, prepared by the French consulting firm HR Emerging, analyses the principal universities from which employers recruit future employees 

 The result comes from the assessment of 2,200 recruitment managers from around the world, specifically those in the areas of business, ICT and engineering

 This new position reflects the positive development of the University and bolsters its international prestige


Friday 12 December 2014. The Ramon Llull University (URL) has moved up 13 places this year in the Global Employability University Ranking which analyses the principal universities from which employers recruit future employees. This classification was prepared by French consulting firm HR Emerging and published in The New York Times, as it has been each year since it first appeared in 2010.

The report accompanying the publication of the ranking, entitled The Global Employability University Survey and Ranking 2014. Education to Employment, reports on the perspective of international recruiters at universities, analysing which are the principal universities from which employers recruit future employees.

The survey and the ranking are taken from interviews with 2,200 HR managers from 20 different countries, specifically with recruiters with experience in the fields of business, ICT and engineering. The report highlights that managers prefer to recruit from universities that are in contact with the corporate world and which combine theoretical knowledge with practical skills. Meanwhile, the aspects most valued by recruiters were universities' ability to prepare their students to adapt quickly to the market, or Production of ready-to-work-graduates, or the University's expertise in a particular field rather than the overall reputation of the University.

 

Internationalisation, the URL's strong point

The fact that the URL has moved up 13 places reflects the positive development of the University and bolsters its international prestige. In the words of Josep Maria Garrell, Rector of the URL: "This upward trend in employability reflects the URL's excellence, our characteristic quality training that meets the current needs of society, but in particular our close relationship with social and corporate world and our ability to adapt to social and economic changes."

Mr Garrell added that, as stated in the report, "Universities must be global and must have international alumni communities like ours." In this connection, he indicated that during 2013-2014 the URL processed 5,682 job offers and strengthened its international network by signing 526 agreements with international universities: 275 in Europe, 116 in Central and South America, 85 in North America, 42 in Asia, 6 in Oceania and 2 in Africa. "We are popular internationally for our capacity to attract students from other countries (more than 11% of our students are non-Spanish and come from over 100 countries) and because our graduates work all over the world.
