The URL, in the top 500 in the world according to THE World University Rankings

The URL appears in the rank 401-500 worldwide, it is 6th in Spain and 4th in Catalonia

Thursday, 2 September 2021. Ramon Llull University (URL) has been ranked for the first time in the prestigious World University Rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine, which lists the 1,600 best universities globally from 99 countries. In this edition, the URL appears in the rank 401-500 of the best universities in the world and with these results, it is placed in the 6th position in Spain and in 4th position with respect to the Catalan university system. 

The ranking is based on 13 indicators that measure the performance of the institutions in 5 areas weighted with the following percentages; teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international projection (7.5%) and knowledge transfer (2.5%). In order to respond to all these indicators, the ranking evaluates 3 types of data:

  • Elsevier bibliometric data
  • Surveys of academics from all over the world
  • Ddata from universities

In this edition, more than 22,000 academics from all over the world answered the surveys, and in terms of research, the ranking analysed more than 108 million citations and more than 14.4 million publications.

Best results, in citations and internationalisation

The University, which obtained an overall score of 41.5 points, stands out in the area of citations in scientific publications, where it obtained 82 points out of a maximum of 100. Furthermore, it is the 5th university in Spain in this area.

The international dimension also obtained very good results, in this area the university also ranks 4th in Spain, and stands out, among others, in indicators such as: International collaborations with 79.4 points, and the Percentage of foreign students, which obtained a total of 70.1 points.
