Esade-URL launches a new joint major in Business Management and Global Governance, Economics and Legal Order

This joint major provides training in business management together with skills in economic analysis, international relations and geopolitical analysis

Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Esade-URL launches a new joint major – Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) and Global Governance, Economics and Legal Order – starting in the 2024-25 academic year. This five-year program taught entirely in English combines training in business management with skills in economic analysis, geopolitical analysis and international relations.

In an increasingly globalized world, the ability to understand and address geopolitics, economics, and global politics is a crucial part of decision making. According to Pedro Aznar, associate dean of Bachelors’ degrees at Esade-URL, “this new joint major seeks to train a new generation of business leaders. Its unique combination of disciplines will equip our students with the necessary tools and knowledge to address the legal, political and economic challenges facing companies and institutions by giving them a competitive edge in the business world of today and tomorrow.”

Expert in economics and global politics

Companies seek professionals and management experts able to grasp and respond to global legal, political and economic issues. The academic variety of this program opens up a wide range of career opportunities for graduates. That is why Esade-URL has designed this joint major in Business Management and Global Governance, Economics & Legal Order to give students the option of specializing in Global Politics or Global Economy.

The Global Politics option means combining business skills with a thorough knowledge of geopolitics, international relations and international law. The increasing impact of the geopolitical landscape on business decisions makes this combination of skills a must because geopolitical variables and international relations are two of the key factors that corporate strategies must take into account. On the other hand, an understanding of functional areas such as marketing and finance will give students more interested in economics a solid grounding in business decision-making processes and also provide career opportunities in consulting and investment banking.

International experience and hands-on learning

This new joint major is Esade-URL’s most international degree. It offers students a wide range of global experiences including up to two exchange semesters (one mandatory and one optional) at any of the 87 universities across five continents that Esade-URL has agreements with. The program also includes study tours to Brussels and Luxembourg to give students a unique insight into European institutions.

The program also features mandatory internships in international organizations and companies, thereby enabling students to gain considerable work experience before graduation. Students will have the chance to take part in giving-back traineeships in countries such as Bolivia, Guatemala or Costa Rica, within the framework of Esade-URL’s SUD program.

What makes this degree different is its focus on hands-on learning. Students will tackle case studies, take part in international challenges and United Nations simulations, work on projects with institutions such as the European Investment Bank, and deal with real-life business challenges put forward by large corporations and international institutions.
