ESDi-URL will present at the Emerging Festival Art Nou

29.06.2023

Thursday, June 29 2023. The 12th edition of Art Nou will be held from 28 June to 1 September. It is the emerging art festival of Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. Considered the only national event that creates links between young artists, the art market and galleries, the festival presents an exciting programme with thirty-four exhibitions and more than fifty participating artists, as well as a wide range of parallel activities.

One of the exhibitions of the Art Nou Festival will take place in the Canòdrom – Ateneu d’Innovació Digital i Democràtica. From the 3rd to the 14th of July, you can visit the two exhibitions of the students of the Master in Digital Art Curatorship of the School of Design ESDi: ‘Tornar-se’ and ‘Simulacros.

Tornar-se. Una experiència virtual sensitiva” invites the viewer to become aware of the present and to explore how the brain responds to different stimuli. On the other hand, “Simulacros. Una experiència en Realitat Virtual sobre el canvi climàtic” reflects on how man-made disasters have led to the death of nature in favour of a growing virtualisation of the world. These projects were developed by students and future curators Martina Viceda, Kevin García, Laura Trilla. And Gemma García, Catalina Garrido and Candela Rodríguez, under the guidance of Professor Agustina Palazzo.

The Art Nou Festival will feature the participation of renowned galleries such as ADN Galeria, Ana Mas Projects, àngels barcelona, Bombon Projects, Chiquita Room, Dilalica, etHALL, Galeria Taché, Galeria Esther Montoriol, Galeria H2O, Galeria Joan Prats, Galeria Marlborough. Galeria Ola, Galeria Senda, House of Chappaz, L&B Gallery, L21 Gallery, LAB 36, NoguerasBlanchard. ProjecteSD, RocioSantaCruz, Suburbia Contemporary and The Curators Room.

La Escocesa, Sala d’Art Jove, Santa Mònica and El Canòdrom will be part of the festival, offering a wide variety of artistic proposals.

The Festival will close on Friday 1st September with the presentation of the ICUB 2023 Award. This prestigious prize, which has been awarded by La Capella since the first edition of the festival, will be given to the best exhibition, as judged by the artist Manuel Rodríguez, who is part of the Art Nou 2023 programme.

In addition, the Sorigué Foundation, which promotes cultural development and artistic creation, will award a prize to one of the participating artists. For its part, the Wittmore Hotel, located in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, will select three artists to exhibit their works in its spaces. The exhibition coincides with the main events promoted by Arte Barcelona, such as the Barcelona Gallery Weekend and the Loop Festival.

For the third consecutive year, the ART-O-RAMA fair in Marseille will award the best exhibition of the festival with free participation in its 2024 edition. This is an invaluable opportunity for emerging artists to gain international exposure.
