Statement on the escalation of war in the Middle East

Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Ramon Llull University joins the statement of CRUE Spanish Universities, which expresses its concern and rejection of the escalation of war in the Middle East with the events that are happening in Israel and Palestine.

As a university, we show our solidarity with all the victims and people affected and we demand peace, security and human rights for all human beings regardless of ideologies or borders.

Violence and armed conflicts are categorically incompatible with democratic values and the missions of the University and our desire is that academic and scientific institutions remain as spaces of peace and cooperation, for which we reiterate our commitment to dialogue and negotiation as a way to resolve the conflict and to stop the suffering of the affected populations.

From URL we convey our solidarity and cooperation to the university and scientific communities of Israel and Palestine as well as to the institutions, organizations, families, friends and people who are suffering from this humanitarian crisis.

We take this opportunity to remind our entire community that it is an important time to join in reflection and prayer for peace. In this sense, we propose the prayer for peace and reconciliation in Israel promoted by the bishoprics of Catalonia and the State.
