The Ramon Llull University and the Ministry of Telecommunications of the Republic of South Africa meet to discuss future collaboration

Thursday, 5 March 2015. The Ramon Llull University (URL) welcomed Her Excellency Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize, South African Deputy Minister of Telecommunications to La Salle-URL School of Telecommunications Engineering to work on various projects in the area of mobility and research.
A team of representatives from the URL and the Ministry of Telecommunications of the Republic of South Africa met yesterday at La Salle-URL to establish links for future collaborations.
The team consisted of three people from this Ministry: Her Excellency Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize, South African Deputy Minister of Telecommunications; Ms Renah Lusiba, Director General of Development and Cooperation of the South African Ministry of Telecommunications; Ms Pulane Makola, adviser and assistant deputy minister, and Lulama Smuts Ngonyama South Africa's Ambassador to Spain.
The URL was represented by Carlo Gallucci, the URL's Vice Rector of International and Student Relations; Anna Berga, General Secretary of the URL; Xavier Vilasís, La Salle-URL Vice Dean of Doctoral Programmes; Àngels Cabau, the URL's Head of International and Student Relations; and Tallulah Forrest, Head of International Relations at La Salle-URL.

Mr Gallucci believes that the URL has many possibilities for cooperation with Africa in general and South Africa in particular. Specifically, during yesterday's meeting, they discussed the possibility of initiating agreements to exchange students and teachers with South African universities and joint research projects, as well as the possibility of supporting the South African government in certain strategic areas for future development.
After the workshop they visited the following La Salle-URL research installations: the UserLab, robotics laboratory, telematics laboratory, the Medialab and Technova Barcelona (Innovation Park and Business Incubator).
