Wednesday, June 6th, 2018. Ramon Llull University (URL) is the second best university of Spain according to U-Multirank. This classification, which this year reaches its fifth edition, is a multidimensional tool developed by the European Commission that evaluates the activity of universities in all their dimensions.

This ranking analyses more than 1,600 universities (75 of which are Spanish) from 95 countries, through 35 indicators grouped into 5 dimensions: 1) teaching and learning; 2) research; 3) knowledge transfer; 4) international orientation and 5) regional engagement.

The scores of the institutions are divided into 5 groups according to their performance with respect to the rest of the universities: (A) very good, (B) good, (C) average, (D) below average, and (E) weak. Of the 35 indicators analysed by U-Multirank, the URL has obtained 10 in "very good" performance; 13 in "good" performance; 6 in the "average of universities"; 5 "below average" and 1 in "weak" performance.

Taking into account all the indicators analysed, the second institution in the Spanish university system that appears on the list is Ramon Llull, after Pompeu Fabra. These good results have also enabled the URL to be ranked as the 73rd university in Europe out of 926 institutions analysed.

The URL excels in international orientation and in regional engagement

The URL is consolidated as one of the pioneering universities in Spain in the international orientation dimension, having obtained 2 indicators in the highest performance ("very good") and 4 in good performance.

In addition, the URL, although it has achieved very good results in all areas, also stands out especially in the dimension of regional engagement. Of the 6 indicators analysed, 3 have a very good result, 2 are in good performance and 1 in the average.

Finally, it also managed to place 3 of the teaching and learning indicators above the average and 1 in the average of the universities analysed.

The CYD Ranking (where the URL is in the top 10) and U-Multirank share the same philosophy, methodology and data. Both are multidimensional and user-oriented rankings, with the possibility to make comparisons between universities around the world according to their preferences.
