URL, among the 4 Spanish universities placed in the European top 100, according to U-Multirank
The University stands out in the indicators linked to contribution to regional development and knowledge transfer
Tuesday, 9 June 2020. Ramon Llull University (URL) has been placed among the European Top 100 and in 3rd position in Spain according to the latest edition of the U-Multirank. This ranking, promoted by the European Commission, is a tool that evaluates the activity of universities in all their dimensions.
U-Multirank analyses more than 1,800 universities from 92 countries, 79 of which are Spanish. To do so, it evaluates these institutions on the basis of 37 indicators, which are grouped into 5 dimensions: 1) teaching and learning; 2) research; 3) knowledge transfer; 4) international orientation and 5) contribution to regional development.
The scores that institutions obtain in each indicator can be: (A) very good, (B) good, (C) on average, (D) below average and (E) weak. Of the 37 indicators analysed this year, URL has obtained 10 with highest score (A) and 12 with a score above the universities average (B).
The University stands out in contribution to regional development, where it got 5 (out of 6) indicators above the average of universities. Likewise, URL has also obtained very positive results in the dimension of knowledge transfer, where 4 (out of 7) indicators got the highest score.
Among the indicators with highest score, the following stand out: International academic staff, open access publications, spin-offs, publications cited in patents, bachelor graduates working in the region, master graduates working in the region, regional joint publications and regional publications with industrial partners.
Taking these results into account, Ramon Llull is ranked 2nd in the Catalan university system, 3rd in the Spanish university system and 99th at European level.
In this edition, the URL studies related to Political Science have also been evaluated
Apart from the global ranking of universities, U-Multirank also analyses the universities by subject areas. Each edition analyses specific subjects and this year's URL studies evaluated are related to Political Science (from Blanquerna-URL), which has been ranked 3rd in Spain and 13th at European level.
